Rocktape

Go Stronger, Longer

What is Rocktape?

RockTape is a special kind of tape known as kinesiology tape. First used by acupuncturists and chiropractors in Japan, today kinesiology tape is used by practitioners throughout the world to treat injuries and improve sports performance.

While the use of kinesiology is often associated with athletes such as Serena Williams, Kerri Walsh and Lance Armstrong, the reality is that RockTape is effective for the treatment of a wide variety of problems, not just sports injuries.

What does Dr. Silverman use Rocktape for?

  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Jumpers knee (PFS)
  • ACL/MCL issues
  • Rotator cuff
  • Groin and hamstring pulls
  • Lower back issues
  • Shin splints
  • Tennis and golf elbow
  • Pain associated with pregnancy
  • Postural correction

Improving Sports Performance

While we can’t turn a 5 hour marathoner into a 3 hour runner, we do have methods to help you break the 3 hour barrier if you’re already close. When applied properly, Rocktape can help athletes improve form and decrease fatigue through better blood flow. These are the two most critical aspects of increasing performance in almost any sport.

If you are a serious athlete or a person serious about their health, there is no better person or Nutritionist than Dr. Silverman. He is by far the most knowledgeable person I have ever met in regards to using nutrition to enhance your performance in either athletics or just your everyday life.

Fascial Movement Taping (FMT)

FASCIAL MOVEMENT TAPING – TAPING MOVEMENTS, NOT MUSCLES
Nothing in the universe is static. Everything moves. Everything is dynamic. The human body is no exception. Movement is key to all healing regardless if a patient is pregnant, or suffering from a car crash.

It’s time for change. A revolutionary change. FMT lays out the argument of why we’ve been doing it wrong for 100 years. It presents new ways of thinking about acute and chronic care. It integrates the best treatments with kinesiology taping to deliver the best possible patient outcomes.

Fascial Movement Taping (FMT) is a new way of thinking about our bodies. Based on the obvious yet largely overlooked concept of muscles acting as a chain, FMT’s revolutionary technique utilizes “longitudinal anatomy”, also known as the “movement patterns” concept. Quite simply, FMT focuses on the body’s integration of movement via multi-muscle contractions as a means of connecting the brain to the body’s uninterrupted fascial web in order to enhance rehab and athletic performance via cutaneous (skin) stimulation.

How does Rocktape work?

RockTape is manufactured with a bias introduced into the weave of the fabric so that it stretches in one direction and not the other. This creates a bio-mechanical lifting mechanism that lifts the skin away from the soft tissue underneath, which allows more blood to move into an injured area to accelerate healing and recovery.

What is Rocktape made of?

Rocktape is a natural-hybrid product that consists of 97% cotton, 3% nylon, and uses no drugs. The adhesive is a hypo-allergenic acrylic based adhesive and contains no latex.

Rocktape is an elastic endurance tape designed for competition. Rocktape’s unique unidirectional stretch pattern won’t reduce your range of motion but it will give you more game.

With its unique stretch and superior adhesive, Rocktape creates a bio-mechanical lifting mechanism which delays fatigue, stabilizes joints, prevents ring and hand burn, and promotes proper form. Rocktape has been working with Crossfit athletes since the 2010 games and is proud to be associated with Crossfit.

What is Crossfit?

Wikipedia defines CrossFit as a strength and conditioning brand that combines weightlifting, sprinting, gymnastics, powerlifting, kettlebell training, plyometrics, rowing, and medicine ball training.

While Wikipedia makes it sound hard, it’s actually fun and the results are phenomenal. What we like most about Crossfit (besides the close community) is the focus on functional movement. Crossfit trains your body to DO things, not look a certain way.

Being able to carry a 75-pound fire hose, or another human to safety, requires a different program and technique than what you might find in a typical gym.
As such, CF athletes have different needs than other athletes therefore need special help when it comes to their sport.

Dr. Silverman uses Rocktape to manage fluids like blood and lymph to help mitigate fatigue and swelling….something that Crossfiters know about all too well. It can be used to enforce proper form during exercise by creating a proprioceptive loop that ensures your ‘ass touches the grass’ during your squats, or that you don’t blow up on the next “Fran”.

Dr. Silverman uses Rocktape to:

  • Protect hands, wrists and shins during muscle-ups and lifting
  • Promote blood flow to help delay fatigue
  • Correct tracking issues in shoulders and knees
  • Reduce swelling
  • Stabilize weak structures such as lower backs, hamstrings and calves
